HOW TO GET STARTED

Call the school on the toll free number. ( 877-298-5199) Admissions people are usually available Tuesday through Saturday from 9AM to 4 PM. You will reach our voice mail at off times. You may also email us from our home page.

Enrollment involves the following steps.

1. Call the school and ask to receive a school information packet.

2. Make an appointment to meet with an admissions/financial aid counselor. If you wish to apply for federal financial aid,  we will provide you with the forms and assist you in their completion. Please call ahead to receive  information regarding the financial information and tax documents  that you will need to bring.

3. At the conclusion of your admissions meeting, you may complete your application and pay your admissions fee.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

Student Evaluation: At the time of the Interview the applicant will be evaluated on the following criteria:

Personal appearance
Communications skills and maturity
Physical and mental health
Work background and or educational background
Applicants to the teacher training course shall satisfy criteria 1 through 4 above as well as have completed 1,500 hours of cosmetology training and applied for the NH Cosmetologists Licensing Examination (if they do not already hold a NH Cosmetologists License)

 

The school may admit an applicant who is over the age of compulsory school attendance (16), shows desirable personality traits and who has satisfactorily completed high school or a G.E.D. exam. High School students attending under contract with the Hartford Area Career and Technology Center's program need not have completed High School. The New England School of Hair Design, Inc. does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, age, ethnic origin or religion.

TRANSFER STUDENTS 

The school accepts transfer students who meet all other admission requirements. The hours earned toward graduation, at the previous school, will be awarded to the student providing that: 

A) such hours are accepted by the NH State Board.

 B) in the schools opinion, the student's skill level is equivalent to the skill level expected of a student who has completed an equivalent number of hours at this school.

This school will not accept training hours for which the previous school has indicated through the transcript, that the student has not achieved a passing grade equivalent to our passing grade. Students who have received financial aid at any other secondary institution, will have a transcript sent to our institution by the Administrative Office. No fee is involved for this service. This school will require that the student secure and submit to us a recommendation from the previous school which advises our acceptance of the student.

FINANCIAL AID 

The New England School of Hair Design, Inc. participates in Federal Financial Aid Programs. Eligible students will receive Pell Grants, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, Vermont Incentive Grants, NH. Incentive Grant, Stafford Student Loans, and P.L.U.S. Loans. The school financial aid office will supply you with the proper forms and applications. The student and parents may be required to submit copies of Income Tax Returns to verify income levels. All student's records are kept strictly confidential. It is recommended that applicants begin the financial aid process well before starting school.

SCHOOL CALENDAR 

Classes start 5 times a year for the full-time program and 3 times yearly for the part-time cosmetology program. Manicurist classes have rolling starts. Starting dates and approximate holiday closings are are shown below. Please confirm holiday closings with the director of student affairs.

Manicuring Course

Classes start often. The full time course schedule is 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday the first 5 weeks and Tuesday through Saturday for the last 4 weeks.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND WAIVERS 

The school offers ACE scholarships. Access to Cosmetology Education Scholarships are awarded by the school each year. ACE scholarship applications must be turned in to the Director of student affairs before the student starts school. Scholarship applications are available from the director of student affairs or the admissions staff. ACE scholarships are merit based awards. Ask for your ACE grant application at the time of your interview
